Hybrid Vehicle Rental
We should all be aware of the impact that using a vehicle has on the environment. Its fair to say that its completely fine to own a vehicle and you really shouldn’t worry about your carbon footprint to the extent that you give up owning a car or van and live in the wilderness in a tent, living of the land and enjoying a shower or bath once a month in the local gym or swimming pool.
It is however a good idea if you really dont need a car all the time to look at the benefits of using a car hire or van rental service and if you can using a Green Car.
In my last post I put up a lovely picture of a Hybrid Car/Green Vehicle from Toyota - it looks the same and performs in the same was as any normal vehicle. Yet, its created with the environment and very much your pocket in mind.
The definition of a Green Car courtesy of Wikipedia is :
A green vehicle or environmentally friendly vehicle is a road motor vehicle that produces less harmful impacts to the environment than comparable conventional internal combustion engine vehicles running on gasoline or diesel.
Great! So now we know what exactly im talking about we can go back to the premise of this article: Renting a car instead of Owning a Car you use infrequently.
Green vehicles are powered by alternative fuels and advanced vehicle (video link) technologies and include hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in (video link)hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, compressed-air vehicles, hydrogen and fuel-cell vehicles, neat ethanol vehicles, flexible-fuel vehicles, natural gas vehicles, clean diesel vehicles, and some sources also include vehicles using blends of biodiesel and ethanol fuel or gasohol
Let us be completely honest. The majority of us own a vehicle and we own it mainly for the purpose of the long drives to relatives or friends and perhaps the weekly food shop at the ‘out of town’ supermarket. Completely pointless if you ask me. Given the cost of owning a car and paying the tax and the extortionate cost of petrol, I reallly wonder why anyone - young or old, who lives near to work and the ammenities needs a car. If you live out in the sticks : fair enough. The Choice is yours as to whether you continue to perhaps harm the environment by owning a car and driving absolutely everywhere. Public Transport is improving and the prices are still cheap - think of that when you next go to fill up your petrol tank…
